Soup Maker Smoothie: Fruit Cocktail & Pear

(Tinned Fruit Smoothie)

This is so simple that it’s cool for kids.  My own kids make it in the soup maker, and there’s no difficult blender to worry about, or holding down the top on my version of Morphy Richards.  Some soup makers might need the top held, but you all know your own machines and their limits.

If you haven’t got any fresh fruit, then tinned is an excellent way to go, and of course, it doesn’t go off in a couple of days either.

Servings 4 Large Glasses

Ingredients

  • Large Tin Fruit Cocktail including juice
  • Large Tin Pears including juice

Instructions

  • Watch your soupmaker maximum levels with this. My two large tins, including the juice filled mine to the very maximum point. There was no room for ice in this version.
  • Select the juice setting and let it run until it's finished.
  • If you want to add some ice, simpy put crushed ice in a glass and pour the smoothie over the top, adding a straw for kids.
  • I decorated with three Maraschino Cherries per glass, but feel free to do yours how you like it.

I haven’t tried this function yet on my soupmaker because I’m a bit worried about any lingering soup taste.

Hi Sue, nice to see you over here. I give my soupmaker a good old clean out with soapy water before I use it for a juice or smoothie. I haven’t noticed any soupy taste, but I did worry about it at first.

I use the easy clean button on my Tefal and leave the lid off for a couple of hours — NO SMELL OR TASTE.

This sounds like it would be quick and easy. Can I ask when you say you use two large tins, what is the weight value on those tins, and where do you get them from. (supermarket tins don’t seem big enough in my thinking).

I actually used Lidl tins of fruit for this version. The pears is around 850ml or 460g and the fruit cocktail was just a little less. In all, it cannot go above your maximum point on your soupmaker. They made for a fabulous smoothie though.
